On January 8th at 7:30 p.m., the 2023-24 CFP National Championship will be awarded to either the second-ranked Washington Huskies or the number-one Michigan Wolverines.

The game is being held at Houston’s NRG Stadium, home of the NFL’s Texans. Neither team can claim a significant home-field advantage, as both programs are located thousands of miles away.

College football betting sites have granted the Wolverines the early edge in the spread, favoring them between four-and-a-half and five points depending on where you do your shopping.

CFP National Championship Game Betting Line

Washington Huskies vs. Michigan Wolverines

Huskies Point Spread: +4.5
Huskies Moneyline: +160
Wolverines Point Spread: -4.5
Wolverines Moneyline: -185
Over/Under: 55.0

The over/under total combined with the point spread suggests that the final score projects out to: Michigan 27, Washington 23.

If Michigan wins, it will be the first CFP National Championship for head coach Jim Harbaugh and the first title for the Wolverines since 1997. Washington claims National Championships in 1960 and 1991, but neither of those is fully acknowledged by the entirety of college football.

That status for the Huskies will change with a win over Michigan next Monday night.

Odds for betting on the CFP National Championship Game are now posted at all online sportsbooks that cover NCAAF, creating some room on the boards for line shopping.

For instance, BetOnline may have the same point spread in place for both teams, but the moneyline odds differ as they’re offering +165 for Washington and -190 for Michigan.

BetUS has added a half-point on either side of the line, posting -5.0 for the Wolverines and +5.0 for the Huskies. The over/under remains consistent at 55 points at the online CFP sportsbooks that we do business with.

Michigan And Washington Against The Spread

Michigan is 8-5-1 against the spread this season, while Washington is 7-6-1 ATS in 2023-24. The Wolverines were favored to win in all of their games this year, but that’s not the case for the Huskies.

In fact, the Huskies have covered in every game where they were the underdog, but does that mean they’ll cover next Monday? We’re betting on Washington to cover the +4.5 points, but we’re not as confident in their ability to outright win the game.
